Washington Irving Proposal

What drove my attention to this particular author was that I did not know this author until I looked online about him and found out that Washington Irving was the American author for writing the short story called The Sleepy Hollow. I haven’t heard and read this book since I was in maybe second or third grade. I still remember only a little bit of the movie about the headless horseman.
What I think it means to be an American author is that they need to be either born in America or they need to write a lot of books in America. So far from what I have found out about Washington Irving is that he had written three short stories including Sleepy Hollow which is one hundred and twenty-four pages long. I think Washington Irving will be a great topic for a ten paged paper because I will first read his books then I will sum them up and also say what kind of techniques he uses in order to make his books interesting and also how he puts it together.
The books I plan to read are Sleepy Hollow (this book is about a headless horseman), Rip Van Winkle (this book is about a man sleeping for 20 years and finally wakes up then takes another nap for fifty seven years but he thought he only took a short nap), and finally a third one. I have not decided on which one I should read I will look them up online or ask Wells for any suggestions. I will read Sleepy Hollow first because that book is the most famous of all of Washington Irving’s book, then I will read Rip Van Winkle because again this book is really popular but not as popular as The Legend of Sleepy Hollow, and finally a third book that seems interesting to me but I want to get any suggestions from Wells or any body else who know about Washington Irving and his books.
