Props of Washington Irving

Washington Irving writes his books in such a way that he manipulates the reader into continuing to read the stories, much like when a child wants his candy. In the story “Rip Van Winkle”, his main character, who is really nice to other people and works for barely any money at all, later gets in a major tragedy. Rip Van Winkle gets drunk one night at a party. He falls asleep for 20 years in a barn and finally wakes up and realizes that everything has changed. His friends died in the war, his wife died, his dog is starving to death in his house that had caved in, and his daughter grew up and got married. In this story I think that Irving is saying that even the nicest people can get bad luck, and that this is what you get for helping people, He also has a very weird sense of humor.
In the story called Christmas, Irving just describes what Christmas is about for him. He thinks that it is a happy day to be thankful. The sun is shining, birds are chirping. His writing style is subtle, straightforward, serious and happy all at once.
Washington Irving’s best selling story wrote is called “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow.” The story is about a rumor that goes around that every night the Headless Horseman comes to sleepy hollow. The Headless Horseman has a rival and his name is Ichabod and he is a school teacher. The Headless Horseman appears at night to find his missing head that he lost during the war. I think that this myth got out by gossip and that is how I think started the legend.
His writing style I think cohesive to Hideyuki Kikuchi’s writing style. Hideyuki Kikuchi is the author who wrote vampire hunter D. Their writing styles are descriptive, and informative to the reader.

Christmas post #6

Title: Christmas
Author: Washington Irving
# of pages: 176-181

In this story he talks about how Christmas is a season for kindness, giving and thankful. He also talks about what happens on Christmas like it's all bright outside, birds chirping, etc.

for my paper I also want to write about his technique on his writing style.

Christmas Post #5

Title: Christmas
Author: Washington Irving
# of pages: 176-181

The story takes place in England and Washington Irving is describing what Christmas is like for him how it feels smells looks like birds chirping etc. This story is similar to his other story called The Broken Heart. This story is unique compared tom the other stories i read because this one doesn't have a plot twist, horror it's just something he see's on Christmas. He says it's also a season for love and kindness.

Rip Van Winkle post #4

Title: Rip Van Winkle
Author: Washington Irving

No, i dont think Washington Irving used any symbolism in this story i think he just puts the plot straight forward.

Rip Van Winkle gets drunk at a party one night and when he wakes up everything has changed.

Rip Van Winkle post #3

Title: Rip Van Winkle

Author: Washinton Irving

# of pages: 26-44

plot: Rip Van Winkle goes to a party on night and got drunk. When he wakes up everytthing changes for him. At first he was confused on where he's at. As Rip Van Winkle looked around the village he couldn't find his friends anywhere, nor his family and when he got back to his house most of it was caved in and his dog is laying inside the house.

Ideas for paper: Maybe i can summarize or give a good perspective on my American Author so if anyone reads my paper they can get an idea to say, this is either a good author to read and i might enjoy it or say this author doesn't speak to me in what i like to read so i wont even bother.

pages: 26 -44
About author: He make the best short stories ever!

Well so far i think he writing stlye is descriptive, plot twisting, and in Rip Van Winkle some thing you might never want to wake up to.

The book that i read was called Rip Van Winkle by Washington Irving.
in this book his style is sort of like the twilight zone when Rip Van Winkle got drunk at a party and slept in a barn for 20 years and when he wakes up everything has changed. His wife past away, his dauther is now an adult and his closest friends died in the war.

Washington Irving Proposal

What drove my attention to this particular author was that I did not know this author until I looked online about him and found out that Washington Irving was the American author for writing the short story called The Sleepy Hollow. I haven’t heard and read this book since I was in maybe second or third grade. I still remember only a little bit of the movie about the headless horseman.
What I think it means to be an American author is that they need to be either born in America or they need to write a lot of books in America. So far from what I have found out about Washington Irving is that he had written three short stories including Sleepy Hollow which is one hundred and twenty-four pages long. I think Washington Irving will be a great topic for a ten paged paper because I will first read his books then I will sum them up and also say what kind of techniques he uses in order to make his books interesting and also how he puts it together.
The books I plan to read are Sleepy Hollow (this book is about a headless horseman), Rip Van Winkle (this book is about a man sleeping for 20 years and finally wakes up then takes another nap for fifty seven years but he thought he only took a short nap), and finally a third one. I have not decided on which one I should read I will look them up online or ask Wells for any suggestions. I will read Sleepy Hollow first because that book is the most famous of all of Washington Irving’s book, then I will read Rip Van Winkle because again this book is really popular but not as popular as The Legend of Sleepy Hollow, and finally a third book that seems interesting to me but I want to get any suggestions from Wells or any body else who know about Washington Irving and his books.
